Utility Bill Phone Scam

We’ve been alerted that area residents are getting phone calls from scammers indicating that their utility bill is delinquent.  They are being directed by the scammer to give their debit card or checking account number and routing number over the phone to avoid getting their electric shut off.    

This is a scam.  Never give out an account number over the phone to an unverified entity.  Should this happen to you, call or stop in at your local utility office.
